A few weeks ago, we turned the switch to make the RSS feeds for shouts publicly available. While we have a few people using them for something interesting, the rest of you slackers haven’t done squat with them. Here are a couple of ideas to get you started.
- FriendFeed: Add your shouts to your FriendFeed account using the generic RSS feed.
- Widgets: Put a cool widget on your blog with your most recent shouts.
- Life streaming: Add your RSS feed to the rest of your life stream.
- RSS Reader: Add certain people to your RSS reader for more close tracking.
- Yahoo Pipes Filtering: Or use your favorite tool to do some cool filtering on RSS feeds.
OK, enough slacking … I dare you (double dog dare you even) to come up with ideas more awesome than the ones here. How are you planning to use the public RSS feeds to do something cool?

I’ve already reported this to Sam, who I think put in a bug report, but all of the times in the RSS feeds are 12-hour times when they should be 24-hours. This means that everyone shouts everything in the morning.

We’re morning people here at Shizzow and just can’t understand why you would possibly need to shout from anywhere after noon!
I’m kidding, of course. I just double checked, and we do have a bug filed for it.

Thanks Reid. We pushed that fix this past weekend.

Working at Vidoop, which is above Backspace, I’m often curious to find out if anybody that I know is at Backspace at the moment. So today, using the Shizzow RSS feed for Backspace, I set up a new “Backspace Shouts” ZapTask in ZapTXT (http://www.zaptxt.com/) that will alert me via IM, email, or SMS when someone shouts from Backspace. And who was the winner for shouting my first alert? Well, it was geekygirldawn, actually.
Are there any plans to RSS enable the “nearby people” page for a designated location?

Very nice!
We are definitely planning to enable more RSS feeds in the near future, such as for nearby people and people you are listening to. Stay tuned!
